Our Context for Learning (CfL) this term is 'Are we there yet?' Each week we will look in depth at different forms of transport. This week our focus will be cars, and there will be a range of real life experiences for the children to participate in. A mechanic will be visiting us at school to talk to us about the job and also show the children how to change a tyre! The children will be encouraged to think about, and ask questions to find out something new. During the week the children will experience washing real cars and also be able to study a classic sports car.
In the classroom, the children will be challenged to think about different forms of transport and sort by their own criteria. In the Creative Area the children will create vehicles using recyclable materials and joining materials. Many of the children often play with cars; making roads and racing. This week, they will be invited to take part in an investigation with ramps. In the Writing Area there will be opportunities for children to write stories about journeys that have been on, and or labelling car parts and other vehicles.
