In Year 5 we give the responsibility to the children to change their home readers. After they feel comfortable on a level, or find the books too easy, they should move on to the next level. They can change their books at any time.
Children are encouraged to read any book of their choosing. It can be from the class library or a book from home. Children should always have a book ready to read in their trays.
