Expressive Arts is embedded throughout our curriculum at Pontprennau Primary School. The children are provided with lots of opportunities to develop skills across the 5 disciplines; dance, art, film & digital media, drama and music.
Through our learning inquiries, the children are given opportunities to create their own art works in response to differrent art, artists and styles. Along their learning journey the children are able to explore a variety of tools, techniques, media and materials to create their pieces.
We celebrate and share the children's artistic learning and experiences in the summer term. This culminates with a week of art exhibitions for parents and caregivers to enjoy and closes with a showcase evening of performances.
We have been working towards embedding film and digital media into our curriculum to equip children for the developing digital age.
Our Eisteddfod 2024 saw a range of expressive arts activities, showcasing children's talents and interests. From clay and wire sculptures, to landscape and observational drawings and collages.
We have recently collaborated with The Welsh National Opera who have delivered assemblies to some of our pupils.
We welcome outside visitors such as CAVMS and Rocksteady, who deliver instrument lessons and ensemble music enrichment to some of our pupils.
This year, some pupils have participated in instrument lessons provided by CF Education. Pupils recently attended a pBuzz Celebration, at the All Nations Centre. Pupils from across the county were able to sing and perform in a professional environment.
