Week Beginning 7th November
'Guess How Much I Love You' by Sam McBratney
The children will be invited to talk about special people in their lives, including family and friends. They will be given iPads to take photographs of their special friends and write about why their friends are special. In the Construction Area the children will be challenged to create a drawing/plan of their house and then build it using wooden blocks. A lot of discussion will centre on the names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes whilst the children are building their houses.
In the Small World Area the children will be presented with a range of materials to create a woodland setting, much like the one in the story. They will use hare puppets and soft toys to recreate scenes and retell the story. Watercolours will be available for the children to use in the Creative Area to create paintings of the characters in the story. Play dough will be available for the children to mould and create models of Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare. In the Writing Area the children will create their own books, based on the story of 'Guess How Much I Love You.' The children will be invited to participate in themed jumping and hopping games, including hopscotch.
