Our literacy focus this week has been on writing an under the sea story, which includes a dilemma. We have been thinking about setting the scene, creating a dilemma, considering the issues the dilemma creates and about how to solve the dilemma.
In numeracy we have been using number lines to add and subtract 2/3 digit numbers. We have looked in detail at subtracting a 2 digit number from a 3 digit number, using jumps of varying size along the number line to help.
Our topic work this week has included history. The children started by gathering facts from a short video about HMS Challenger, they then used the facts they had collected to write their own documentaries.
In science we have been looking at food chains and using scientific terminology to label them. These terms have included producer and consumer as well as predator and prey.
The children have been producing their own underwater abstract art in the style of famous artist J. Vincent Scarpace. Using various techniques they have created paintings of underwater sea creatures.
For music we have been using the Charanga music programme to learn ABBA songs.
