NEW CURRICULUM HOME LEARNING TASK
Parents / Carers, As you may be aware the curriculum for Wales is changing and from 2022 it will become statutory. Schools that are showing good practice are already preparing for the changes ahead.
There are four core purposes that underpin the new curriculum which will enable our children to become lifelong learners and responsible and caring citizens of Wales and the world. The new curriculum hopes to allow all children to become:
* Healthy, Confident Learners
* Ethical, Informed Citizens
* Enterprising, Creative Contributors and
* Ambitious, Capable Learners
This half term pupils, and staff, in Pontprennau have been focussing on becoming ‘Ethical, Informed Citizens’. There have been weekly assemblies taking place that have discussed various issues such as the importance of looking after our environment, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, being aware of different cultures and the importance of teamwork.
We are running a competition over the Christmas holidays for pupils to design a logo that would encompass all of those ideas.
The winning entry will become Pontprennau's logo for this core purpose and will be display in the school and classrooms to remind us all of what we are striving to achieve. We already have a fabulous logo for our Healthy, Confident Learners that was voted for by the school council.
