General Class Information
Our context for learning overviews
We teach through half term or termly contexts for learning and will keep you updated on what exciting experiences we have got planned each week. Please see below for an overview of our context for learning which will give you an idea of what exciting experiences the children may have during the context.
Weekly learning experiences
Please check this section regularly to see what learning experiences are being offered to the children each week.
Week Commencing: 22/1/2018
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
The focus this week will be to re-establish friendships, class routines and behaviour expectations within the classroom and other areas of the school.
Literacy, Language and Communication
This week we will be finding out about Grace Darling. Who was she? Why is she still so important to us now? What did she do? Where was she from? We will be writing Acrostic Poems based on our research.
This week the children will be completing a number assessment for ordering and comparing sequential and non-sequential numbers . We will also be doing an investigation linked to our topic to help encourage problem solving.
KUW & Creative Development
This week, we will be making simple circuits to light a bulb for a lighthouse.
The children will also be learning and singing new songs and composing new verses using the skills of rhyming and alliteration.
The children will be following the PESS gymnastics programme for PE sessions.
Please ensure that your child has their P.E kit in school with their name clearly written on the bag and the clothes!
We will be continuing to practice the phases Sut wyt ti? Sut mae'r tywydd heddiw? Pa liw wyt ti'n hoffi? Beth sy yn y bocs? Beth sy ar y bwyrdd? We will also be learning the vocabulary for Tegannau (toys).
The children will be using the laptops to write their names and change the size and colour of the writing.
They will also be using the search engine to find images of Grace Darling to print out.
Our role play areas are set up as lifeboat stations this half term. The children will have opportunities to act out different roles. They will need to fill in incident logs, phone the emergency services and be a medic.
Show and Tell
Everybody loves to tell a story or share some news! In order to make sure everyone has an opportunity to speak, we have decided that we will focus on one group per week. Children can bring in something small that is important to them or just tell us about something lovely they have done over the weekend. It is not meant to put pressure on anyone but is a chance for children to speak in front of an audience.
Week Beginning 15th January - Group 5
Week Beginning 22nd January - Group 4
