We follow Cornerstones curriculum content to follow a project each term. Our context for Learning this term is called 'Who lives in a rock pool?'

Which creatures live on the seashore? Why do crabs have shells? The children will get to explore these questions and more in thus project about the seashore and the plants and animals that live there.

For example;

This week we will base our activities and tasks on the book 'Sharing a Shell' by Julia Donaldson.

Within the creative area, the children will lots of opoortunites to paint what they would find in a rock pool, make shell prints in play dough and junk model. Also, every week the children will have the opportunity to collect a variety of items found on the beach to contribute to a beach art piece of work.

On the writing table, there will be rainbow sand to mark make and blank books for the children to write their own fact books about sea creatures found in rock pools.

For Maths, the children can enhance their learning by taking part in a seashore shape find in our outside area. Also, outside will include lots of sand play, building boats and rock pool from construction and exploring water play in a tiered level tuft tray full of small world sea creatures.

Within our indoor role play area, the children have voted for a few weeks to have a toy shop and we can't wait to develop this with them.
