Our Context for Learning Overviews
We teach through half term or termly contexts for learning and will keep you updated on what exciting experiences we have got planned each week. Please see below for an overview of our context for learning which will give you an idea of what exciting experiences the children may have during the context.
Weekly Learning Experiences
Please check this section regularly to see what learning experiences are being offered to the children each week.
Week starting: 16/07/2018
We follow Cornerstones curriculum content to follow a project each term. Our context for Learning this term is called 'Who lives in a rock pool?'
Which creatures live on the seashore? Why do crabs have shells? The children will get to explore these questions and more in thus project about the seashore and the plants and animals that live there.
We cannot believe how quick this academic year has gone and to say that its the final week! We are so proud of our Reception children and the progress they have made during this year. We will all miss them dearly and wish every single one the best in their new adventure to Year 1 come September. I would like to thank their parents for being so supportive and encouraging your children in their learning at home and hope you have a fantastic summer with them.
For our last full week, we will be finishing any focus tasks that started last week. We should have the children's yellow record reading book and any school books returned to the school. We ask that you visit Bug Club for this week and for the holidays to encourage your children to continue with their reading development and practise writing (try in the sand, shaving foam, bubble mixture, chalk etc).
For Maths, try looking at time (days, weeks, months, clock), encourage to pay for items with money and explore different coins, look at shapes (signs on the roads). There can be many opportunities whilst playing in the sunshine!
Our sports day will be on Thursday and hope you can join us. Details of the day have been sent out along with what colour t-shirt your child will need to be dressed in.
We hope that you are able to join us for our Summer fate on Saturday 21st July. FOPPS have worked very hard in order to provide a range of activities for the children and parents.
