October 12th 2018

Thank you to all friends and relatives who attended our Harvest Festival on Wednesday. The Reception children enjoyed seeing familiar faces as they recited ‘A little Autumn fairy.’

Here is the poem:

A little Autumn fairy,

Sitting in a tree,

Painting all the leaves,

And throwing them at me

*

Sunny leaves of yellow,

Ruby leaves of red,

Come fluttering down,

All around my head

*

Soon the branches will be bare,

The leaves will all be shed,

And the squirrels and the hedgehogs,

Will all go to bed!

We have enjoyed investigating all the leaves, conkers and other autumn items that the children have brought to school. Please continue to bring them in.

This coming week we will be guessing what autumn item is in a feely box and labelling them. The children will be continuing to explore mark making and working on writing their own names confidently. We will be working on number recognition using dice and fingers to represent numbers.

On the subject of names, please ensure all items are named to help us return lost items to their rightful owner – even socks and tights if possible. We have a couple of unnamed school sweatshirts and a jumper. If you are missing one, please let us know.

The children are enthusiastic Welsh learners. During snack time they are encouraged to ask for their fruit and drink using the pattern “Ga i…….” For example:

Ga i llaeth?   - May I have milk?

Ga i dwr? – May I have water?

Ga i fanana melyn? – May I have a yellow banana?

Ga I afal coch? – May I have a red apple?

We are also encouraging the use of ‘dioloch’ and ‘os gwelwch chi’n dda.’
