Languages, Literacy and Communication

What is Literacy?

Literacy is the ability to read, write, speak and listen in a way that lets us communicate effectively and make sense of the world around us.

When do we use Literacy?

We use Literacy all the time! We are constantly taking in information by reading and listening, and expressing ourselves by speaking annd writing.

We use it everyday, everywhere we go, through activities such as:

~ chatting to parents, friends or teachers.

~ Reading a book.

~ Watching a show on television or listening to a story.

~ Writing descriptive and imaginative stories or diaries, instructions, road signs.

… and so much more!
