Another week has whizzed by in Reception! We have been looking at line, one of the elements of art, and used oil pastels and water colour to experiment. In Phonics sessions we introduced Metal Mike and have started to blend CVC words. With lots of opportunities presented in continuous and enhanced provision inside and out the children have been engaged and active.

A few suggestions to help your child manage the school day:

  • Coats. The weather is very changeable at the moment but seems to be consistently chilly in the mornings. The children are outside every day. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a coat and that they are able to put this on and fasten it themselves. Of course, we will help them if necessary, but our aim is to foster independence. We have been teaching them to turn sleeves the right way. Please encourage this at home.

  • Packed lunches. Lunch boxes are left on a trolley as the children enter school, which is then wheeled to the hall at dinner time. Please ensure that your child has their lunch box ready to put on the trolley, to avoid trips back to search for lunches left forgotten in backpacks.

  • PE. The children change for PE on Wednesdays. This is the day to wear clothes that are easy to take on and off!

Thank you J
