Week beginning 22nd October 2018

This week the children will be interviewing each other using a green screen. They will be asking and answering questions about the topic 'Cardiff Tales'. As we are coming to the end of term, the children will also be reviewing the topic and thinking about the lessons and experiences they have most enjoyed. In maths the children will be focusing on adding and subtracting 10 and taking part in different maths investigations.

'Money! Money! Money!  

Week beginning 15th October 2018

This week we will be focusing on the history of Cardiff. We will be comparing photos from 100 years ago and the present. The children will predict what they think Cardiff will be like in 100 years time. For their writing the children will look at features of a diary and will then write diary entry as though they lived 100 years ago. 

Week beginning 8th October 2018

We are reading George's Marvellous Medicine and will be looking at the layout and features of recipes next week. On Friday the children will be writing their own recipe for a marvellous medicine of their choice. 

Other activities this week include 

- Making fruit kebabs

- Watercolour paintings 

- Making pictures/patterns using conkers 

- Playing shape games

Week beginning 1st October 2018

The children had a wonderful time last week at Cardiff Bay. They were extremely well behaved and you should all be very proud - we were! 

This week, following on from the trip, the children will be creating leaflets all about Cardiff. They will also be 'debugging' a computer programme and checking to see if works. Pupils will be completing a maths investigation and answering the question "How do you know?" to extend their use of mathematical vocabulary. 

Week beginning 24th September 2018

Believe it or not. We will be designing and making our Christmas cards this week. We will also be completing a maths investigation and learning about shapes. 

On Thursday we will be going on a school trip. The children are all very excited about this! 

Week beginning 17th September 2018

Cardiff Tales

This week pupils will be finding out more about Cardiff. They will be creating their own booklet using ICT. Pupils will need to remember to use headings and factual information. The children will also be using maps to locate Cardiff and Wales. 

We will also be having a sponsored read this week, so we will be encouraging children to read as much as possible during the school day and add it to their reading log. 

Spellings from phonic groups will go home each week. Pupils will then have a quick test on Monday.
