Week beginning 26/11/18

This week in math our main focus is on measuring in non standard units. The children are enjoying making a family of different size dough snakes and measuring them using cubes.

We are also looking at positional language.

In literacy we are editing our 'Talk for Write' stories, to see how we can improve them and make them even better! We are focusing on capital letters and full stops.

Through our topic work we will be starting to look at electricity and the different uses that it has. We are sorting items into groups - light, sound, heat and movement. Please encourage your child to have a look around the house and see if they can spot objects that use electricity.

By working in cooperative groups, we will be preparing for enterprise week by creating our very own products to make and sell at our Year 1 'pop up' Christmas shop.

In connection with our half term topic 'Money, Money, Money' we were very lucky to receive a visit from TSB bank. The children got to make bank cards and pretend to pay money into the bank, as well as getting to look at and feel real money, including a £50 note!!

If your child has lines to learn for the performance please continue to help them learn them, as there is not long to go now!
