In Reception this week our activities have included:

  • Practising name writing using the correct letter formation. Before using pencil and paper, the children practised writing in different textures such as flour, rice and glitter to help them with the movement.
  • Practising writing numerals 1 to 5.
  • Learning to recognise dice arrays and playing games involving rolling a dice and moving along a track.
  • Retelling the story of ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ using a story map.
  • Making a clay hedgehog.
  • Painting and collaging pictures of hedgehogs.

Next week pumpkins will be the focus of our activities. We will also be making patterns with leaves so please continue to bring those autumn leaves to school! Small, uncut pumpkins and gourds are also welcome and will be returned home.

A gentle reminder to wear coats to school as it has been quite chilly.

If your child brings a packed lunch to school, we would be grateful if they could bring a lunch box as it is awkward for the children to take a backpack into the hall for lunch. Drink bottles are less likely to be lost if they fit inside the lunch box or in a pocket at the side.

We are all looking forward to a busy week next week before the half term break.
