In Year 4 this half term our topic is Eisteddfod. We will be looking at the history of the National Eisteddfod, finding out how it began and what its main aims are.

In relation to our topic in Language, Literacy and Communication we will be writing an explanation text of how the Eisteddfod began. We will then be writing an e-mail to try and persuade the National Eisteddfod to come to our local area. As well as this we will be reviewing the National Eisteddfod website (ICT) and also writing and reciting a poem. Our welsh work will include writing, reciting and performing welsh poetry.

Through our DT work we will look at recipes for festival foods and be making a chosen dish. Our Science focus will involve a carousel of mini experiments linked to the Science and Technology pavilion at the Eisteddfod. In Geography we will be using maps to locate where the National Eisteddfod is taking place this year.

The focus in PE this half term will be on learning a welsh dance, whilst in PSE we will debating about the welsh language and ways to promote it in Wales. In connection to our topic our Music focus will be on choirs and learning to sing with increasing control. We will also be completing pieces of Art work for the Eisteddfod competition.

Through our Numeracy work we will be looking at fractions, angles, symmetry, dividing 2 and 3 digit numbers and finding change from £10, £20 and £50.
