Our focus story the this week is

"The Three Billy Goats Gruff."

There will be lots of experiences and activites on offer to the children based around the story within the Nursery classroom. 

At the start of the week the children will have a story sack session in the library where they will be introduced to the story and the story characters. Throughout the week the children will learn the story actions which will help them to become storytellers . There will opportunities for the children to act out the story as well as retell the story with puppets and story stones. 

In our mark making activities the children will be encouraged to make their own story maps and at the end of the week the children will meet the troll and have the opportunity to ask him qu

In our cooking activities the children will be following a recipe to cook quiche made with goats cheese. In our phonics sessions the children will be playing sound discrimination games and will also be introduced to the story and song for the "s" sound. In our little big maths sessions the children will be practising their rote counting skills and will be counting forwards and backwards in both English and Welsh. The children will also be practising their number recognition skills as well as their accurate counting skills. The children will also have the opportunity to take part in our music, circle time and play to learn sessions.

 In our continuous and enhanced provision within the classroom, the children will be encouraged to make troll and goat masks in the creative area, build bridges in the construction area and sort animals in to pens within the small world farm. In the maths area the children will be encouraged to order sets of animals according to size, using appropriate size language such as small, smaller, smallest, big, bigger, biggest.
