W/C 23rd May 2016

W/C Monday 23rd May 2016

During our Pupil Voice session this week the children listened to the story:

‘The Mixed Up Chameleon" by Eric Carle

See the link below to listen to the story.

This will be the final week of this context for learning.

We will move on to our final context for learning after half term.

Personal & Social Development and Cultural Diversity

The children loved the games that were on offer to them last week - "If you see a crocodile..." and "Crocodile dentist". These will be on our enhanced provision again for the children to enjoy this week.

On Thursday we will also be having a Reptile party to celebrate the end of our topic.

At our party the children will play a variety of party games where turn taking and team work will be the focus.

Language and Literacy

The children will be following instructions to make cakes for their party this week.

The children will also be writing about things that make them happy and sad.

Our individual and guided group reading sessions will continue this week and the children will also have their daily phonics sessions.

Mathematical Development

The children have been practising a variety of methods to solve addition and subtraction problems over the last couple of weeks.

This week the children will be using both addition and subtraction skills with money.

They will be using their coin recognition skills to pay for items in a role play shop and will have to work out how much change they will be given.

Physical Development

This term the children will be developing their balancing & ball skills in our PE sessions.

Creative development & Knowledge and understanding

The children will be designing their very own mixed up chameleons this week in our enhanced provision. They will also be painting and adding detail to their large papier mâché crocodile. In our construction area the children will have the opportunity to build their own camouflage chameleons to match to  different environments and there will colour mixing on offer in the creative area.

Another busy week in Reception!

Our Reptile Party - Thursday 27th May 2016

We will be having a reptile party for the children this Thursday, to celebrate the end of our context for learning,

The children are welcome to dress up as their favourite reptile e.g. A snake, a crocodile, a dinosaur, a chameleon, a lizard or a tortoise.

If your child does not have anything to wear please just dress them in plain clothes and we will be making headbands and masks throughout the week which your child can then wear.

We would politely like to ask that the children do not wear any other themed dressing up clothes e.g. Star Wars costumes, frozen costumes, princess costumes etc... this is because we would like to keep our party linked to our theme about reptiles. We thank you in advance!
