Information About Free School Meals

Reception & Year 1 Parents - If you are in receipt of certain benefits your child will be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM); details of which benefits you must be entitled to are on the FSM application form.

If you believe your child is entitled to FSM please complete the application form and return it to Cardiff Council as instructed on the form. We would encourage parents who are entitled to FSM to return the form even if you intend for your child to bring their own packed lunch to school.

If you have older children in other schools who already receive FSM you still need to complete this form for your child, they do not automatically qualify because a sibling receives them.

If you have any queries about the form or FSM please do not hesitate to contact Miss Bezant.

The role of the Eco Committee at Pontprennau Primary School is to help the school to become as environmentally friendly as possible.

The duties of the committee include:

  • Attending meetings
  • Writing action plans
  • Implementing action plans
  • Coming up with ideas to improve the school
  • Leading the way with environment issues

Eco Schools is an international programme which rewards schools for working hard on environmental topics to make the world a better place. It works by involving the whole school - pupils, teachers and other staff together with parents and members of the local community. It encourages teamwork and helps to create a shared understanding of what it takes to run a school in a way that respects and enhances the environment. Eco Schools is a recognised award scheme that accredits schools who make a commitment to continuously improve their environmental performance. There are 3 levels of award: Bronze, Silver and the Green Flag.
